Ruger FirearmsRuger- Ruger firearms are very popular among civilians and law enforcement. Ruger manufactures handguns, rifles, shotguns, and revolvers. In this Ruger review by Best Police Guns we are going to give you an overview of the Ruger firearms. Ruger firearms! Ruger's official name is Sturm, Ruger & Company. Most people refer to them and know them as Ruger. Best Police Guns is going to keep it simple and call them Ruger. Ruger was founded by William B. Ruger and Alexander McCormick Sturm in 1949 in Southport, Connecticut. Ruger stock has been publicly traded since 1969, and became a New York Stock Exchange company in 1990 under the code RGR. From 1949 through 2004, Ruger manufactured over 20 million firearms, and currently offers models for hunting, target shooting, self-defense, collecting, and law enforcement. While Ruger may only be the fourth largest police gun manufacturer there are still plenty of officers carrying Ruger guns. There are two different types of Ruger firearms; Rimfire and Centerfire. Here is a short synopsis of each type. 1) Rimfire: Ruger rimfire rifles are either .17 or .22 caliber. They are relatively low-powered as their rim is crushed by the firing pin to set off the primer, necessitating a relatively soft brass case. The Ruger rimfire rifles are economical, quick, accurate, and fun to shoot! They are some of the most popular .22 caliber rifles when it comes to small bore target shooting and small game hunting. Ruger .22 rimfire pistols are most commonly seen in target shooting. All Ruger rimfire pistols are chambered for the economical, quiet, accurate, and light-recoiling .22 LR cartridge. There are many variations of the Ruger .22 rimfire pistols. Ruger Rimfire pistols:
2) Centerfire: Ruger manufactures a wide variety of centerfire pistols. They range from the .204 Ruger to the most powerful magnums. The Ruger centerfire pistols have a separate primer in the base of a strong, solid brass case. These pistols are popular in large game hunting and law enforcement. They come in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 auto calibers. All Ruger centerfire pistols are rugged, reliable, and quite affordable. Ruger centerfire pistols:
Ruger Revolvers The first Ruger revolver was introduced in 1953. The Ruger revolvers are available in single action or double action. Single action revolvers are revolvers where the trigger performs the single action of firing the gun after the hammer is cocked manually. Double action revolvers can be fired like single action revolvers or in the double-action mode. Double action mode consists of pulling the trigger through a longer arc, which both cocks the hammer and then fires the revolver. Double Action revolvers are quicker to shoot and reload.
